clinical trial is a KICK ASS GAME made by homie that u can play 4 free on itch.io. its best to go in completely blind. so. i'd suggest you STOP READING and GO PLAY IT! its a super short game :]

angel is a non-binary young adult who works a shitty job that they hate. they suffer from adhd (most likely among other things) and struggle balancing their life properly. they don't make much money, so they do a lot of clinical trials that pay relatively well. the game follows their story through an adhd related clinical trial where they meet the nurse practitioner, lee.

i absolutely adore this game for a multitude of reasons. i care deeply for both the main characters; mostly because i relate to them on such a personal level. i suffer from angels adhd, i suffer from lees ocd, i understand both of their troubles SO completely. needless to say I'm glad my boyfriend forced me to play it lol

information in the character sections may be innacurate; im going off my own (shitty) memory and a couple headcanons i have. if you see somethin wrong with the FACTS... dont b afraid to contact me :)
ANGEL MARTINEZ
pronouns: they/them
height: 5'1
weight: 115 (approximately)
occupation: bakery worker

angel is incredibly relatable. transgender, adhd, complex ptsd, yadda yadda. THIS GAME IS RELATABLE is what i'm getting at. angel represents something so deep and true inside of me. their rant about feeling unhuman, the assault they endured, their lack of focus, their paranoia being brushed off when, in fact, something IS happening...
it feels tailor made.

their struggle with themself is heartbreaking as someone who experiences such a similar issue. they feel useless until they meet lee

LEE SMITH
pronouns: he/him
height: 6'1
weight: 220 (approximately)
occupation: nurse practitioner

lee is such a morally complex character. he grew up mormon and only incredibly recently moved out of his parents house and into his own. he exhibits a lot of signs of ocd; such as when he talks to angel about the jenny haniver he has displayed in his hallway. angel also explains in one ending how "it's like you're trying to convince yourself you're a creep.". as someone who HAS OCD... jesus christ yeah this hits really hard. intrusive thoughts and strange compulsions are difficult, but imagine if all you've ever known was an abusive church and family. that undeniably fucked him up
